Develop a voluntary working relationship with participants in order to understand their strengths, areas for development and goals. Art Beat is an innovative program started by Unison Health and Community Services (formerly York Community Services) in 1993. Weekly classes provide an opportunity for artistic learning and self-expression, social interaction, skill building, and improved communication for adults with developmental or mental health challenges who would be unable to access mainstream programs. The program is now run by UrbanArts Toronto at their Weston Commons Artscape location.
